A beautiful example of Merkel's Model 47 E in 12 gauge, with upgrades. Merkel manufactured this side by side shotgun in Germany during March 1998, according to the production code "3KI" as decoded by the factory. This classy shotgun  features a boxlock action, 28 inch blued barrels, made of Krupp Steel and choked IC and MOD, raised solid rib with crosshatching and single brass bead front sight,  automatic safety, automatic ejectors, hand engraved metal in arabesque scroll pattern with embellishments, engraved screw heads, case colored metal finish, English style stocks with Merkel black plastic butt plate. Upgrades include single selectable trigger and luxury grade Turkish walnut for butt and splinter foreend, both hand checkered in a ~24 LPI pattern. Overall length is 45 inches at the heel, 44.75 inches in the curve, and 45.12 inches at the toe. Weight is an easy pointing 6.8 pounds.  Used at ~98% with small bluing wear spots where the foreend wood meets underside of barrels, one small dent in butt stock, and a small scratch near toe of butt plate. Bores are shiny bright and clean. Pleasing to the eye and comfortable to the shoulder. A fine German quality shotgun!!
