Belgian Browning Superposed Midas Grade in 12 gauge. This engraved and gold embellished Belgian Browning Midas Grade was manufactured in 1966. It features dual ivory bead sights on a matte vent rib, chokes marked full/full, ejectors, and chambers bored to accommodate 3" magnum shells. The receiver, trigger guard, release lever and a 2" wedge on each side of the top barrel are elegantly engraved with a floral vine design using a punch dot background. The right side of the receiver has three gold ducks in flight over a marsh scene bordered with a finely executed gold wire edging. The left side of the receiver has three gold pheasants in flight over a field scene with gold wire bordering. There bottom of the receiver is embellished with a gold quail. Both sides of the receiver are signed by the master engraver, "M GEYSEN". Additional embellishments include a gold single trigger and tang mounted manual safety/selector. The forearm and pistol grip stock are extra fancy, highly figured and warmly colored Circassian walnut, finished in a high gloss. The grip and forearm are graced with fine line checkering that incorporates a multi point border pattern on the forearm and a fancy border pattern on the grip wrist. The forearm latch assembly has an engraved feather design and the buttstock is fitted with a solid Decelerator recoil pad. LOP is 14 3/8". This shotgun is cased in a Browning leather hard takedown case. The condition of this Browning is excellent. The metal retains 99% original blue finish and gold inlay. There is a small area on the left side, upper barrel where the bluing is rubbed, and a small area of wear ahead of the forearm. The wood is excellent with only light handling marks and sharp checkering. All stampings and markings are sharp. The engraving is beautiful and sharp. The shotgun is mechanically excellent. The case has a couple of small areas of tape residue on the outside of the case, but is excellent in other respects. A beautiful example of the Browning craftsmanship in a nearly new Midas Grade Superposed that is 45 years into its life as a valued collectible, SN 5285s6 (NOTE: there are three photo groups for this shotgun.
