ARMY OF THE WEST A detailed, limited edition lithograph by the renown military-theme artist, Don Stiver (now deceased). This lithograph was printed in 1987 as a limited regular edition of 850, all signed and numbered. Of that small edition, you have your choice of either #2 or #3......yes, single digits from the beginning of the edition. On June 5, 1846, then Colonel Stephen Kearny prepared to send the first of his 2500 soldiers, comprised of infantry, artillery and members of the 1ST and 2ND Dragoons, from Ft Leavenworth, Missouri to Santa Fe, New Mexico. The objective was to wrest control of New Mexico from the occupying Mexican military forces as part of the Mexican-American War. Colonel Kearny, and his Army of the West, were successful, as the Mexican forces withdrew from New Mexico rather than fight Kearny’s Army. Each lithograph is new, unframed, original in all respects and in the original Don Stiver sleeve with accompanying information sheet. These lithographs have been stored flat since release 34 years ago. If you are not picking up this lithograph at our shop in Hiawatha, Iowa, we can ship it to you. PRICE: $750.00
